The International Veterinary Student Association began in Denmark in
1951, and now has over 22,000 members across the globe. IVSA exist to
benefit animals and people of the world by harnessing the potential
and dedication of veterinary students to promote the international
application of veterinary skills, education, and knowledge. The IVSA
Development Fund was created in order to assist veterinary school in
impoverished places. This year the Development Fund has selected The
Veterinary School of Mongolia State as the recipient as they are in
desperate need of computers and books for their students. A portion of
the proceeds from Trivia Night will be donated to the Development Fund
which will benefit over 650 veterinary students in Mongolia.
The Student Association for Global Awareness, or SAGA, was created to
enhance the cultural awareness of international veterinary medicine by
facilitating overseas exchanges and promoting understanding of
international issues within the College of Veterinary Medicine. The
goals are:
1. To increase awareness of international veterinary medicine through
education
2. To serve as a conduit of information on international opportunities
3. To provide a scholarship fund for those interested in seeking an exchange
